The Story

After having won over more than 650,000 gamers worldwide in his first two adventures, Sherlock Holmes is back on PC with his most ambitious title yet: The Awakened. In Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, a seemingly routine investigation will lead the most famous detective of all time to the edge of insanity as he thwarts the designs of a sect of the Cult of Cthulhu.

This new adventure of Sherlock Holmes marks the first time the famous detective will be presented in a fully 3D world; while the creators have retained the traditional mouse-based point-and-click gameplay readily recognized by fans of the adventure genre. The use of a 3D game engine increases the game's immersiveness, and allows for new puzzles based on physics and light.

The Awakened plunges the player into the heart of a dark and mysterious adventure. Sherlock Holmes, assisted by his loyal companion Doctor Watson, is called upon to investigate strange disappearances, apparently related to the activity of a secret sect of worshippers of the evil elder god Cthulhu.

At 221b Baker Street, a typical London day begins: fog in the morning, afternoon and evening. Sherlock Holmes is in a foul mood this morning, as it’s been some time since the famous detective has had a case to solve. But Doctor Watson’s arrival quickly breaks this boring routine, as he brings news of the mysterious disappearance of a young Maori servant who works for one of his patients, Captain Stenwick.

Once Holmes has arrived on site, he will discover the first clues to a very strange affair, related not to a disappearance, but to a kidnapping. Holmes’ kidnapping theory will be proven correct when he discovers similar cases reported in the press and by other individuals. There can be no doubt at all; only a powerful organization is capable of planning these kidnappings. But for what reason? There is no apparent link between the various disappearances and no ransom has been demanded…

The rest of the investigation and the discovery of macabre clues will quickly show that behind this mysterious organization hides a disturbing and possibly insane sect or Cthulhu worshippers.
